Brief biography of partner
vfdb is the expert network for protection, rescue and safety in Germany. With their financial and non-material contributions, the broad base of personal and corporate members ensures fact-based research, cross-interest specialist group work and is an independent lobby for improving safety in dealing with the hazards of everyday life and industrial society.
Currently, more than 2,500 individual members and more than 500 corporate members from industry and society, including more than 100 municipalities, as well as ministries, research institutes, associations, societies and the associated national and international fire department organizations stand up for the goals of the vfdb. As a network of experts, the vfdb creates a platform for dialogue through expert presentations, ad hoc working groups, and participation in and organization of expert conferences and trade fairs, e.g. Interschutz. The vfdb participates in research and development. It supports the experts through technical information, guidelines and the publication of a technical-scientific journal. The vfdb contributes its expertise to public and political debates.
Role in the project
vfdb is focusing on three key components: At first, existing structures and processes in European civil protection are being analysed to identify potential for strengthening cooperation between authorities, organisations with security responsibilities and volunteer helpers. Based on these findings, practical training concepts are developed that facilitate the use of new technologies and forms of participation and strengthen operational readiness in crisis situations. For the further transfer of results into practice, specialist publications, workshops and integration into existing networks are carried out.
