Brief biography of partner

FORMONT – Mountain Forest Fire Fight & Civil Protection Advanced Training Center, is a R&D and training center that provides courses dedicated to the safety, efficiency and effectiveness of forestry activities, Forest Fire Fight and Civil Protection (FFF&PC) and provides training, planning and technical support to public administrations, private subjects and the population on prevention, protection and resilience to natural and man-made risks.

Since 2000 it has trained and certified the Forest Fire Fighters of the FFF Volunteer Corps and the Components of the Regional and National Civil Protection System (various levels and specializations, including members of the Corpo Forestale dello Stato, Corpo Nazionale dei Vigili del Fuoco, Coordinamento Regionale di Protezione Civile and the operators of the Emergency Mobile Column of the National Civil Protection Department), in compliance with the National and European directives and Guidelines,

It has promoted, facilitated and provided specialized training on STPs, SOPs and C2 standardization and operational assets, enabling practitioner and first responder organisations to be eligible for UCPM employment such as Ground Forest Fire-Fighting, Aerial forest firefighting using helicopters/planes, use of Fire Task forces, Emergency Temporary Camp, Flood Containment, Water pumps with minimum capacity, High Capacity Pumping devices, Communication teams, TLC, TAST and Evacuation support teams (European and National Guidelines), Emergency Rescuers Module, Module for assistance and restoration of basic living conditions of the affected populations, Meal production and administration Module, Health Module, “PASS” social-health assistance team (Regional/National directives and guidelines).

Having also participated in national and European projects to raise awareness among citisens on natural risks, transforming and disseminating it in specific information/training moments for the population, LEMA of Civil Protection and the Media

Role in the project

Formont is Co-Leader in:

WP3 – Comparing procedures and identify harmonisation potential, selecting and comparing Operational Practices e selecting technical procedures for wildfires and flood response, with a view to harmonization among Communities of Practice (CoP)

WP5 – Developing training and knowledge exchange formats and materials, for the provision of Pilot Training on harmonized Command and Control practices and technical procedures for wildfires and floods. It also contributes to the development of the Dashboard and facilitates the integration of developed content and methodologies into national and international training programs.

Formont also contributes to:

– WP1 – Interoperability of response capabilities in Europe, in the analysis of Volunteers activation and deployment at national level and of UCPM activation events and in the mapping of command and control structures and techniques used in wildfire and flood management.

– WP4 – Testing and Evaluation of Interoperability in Trials, participate in the creation of a trial methodology by providing technical practices support.

– WP6 – Roadmap for the harmonization of response capabilities and incident dashboards, it supports the co-design of relevant capabilities and the definition of harmonized SOP, primarily in flood response activities.
